The Fort Point neighborhood is nestled between the Seaport District, South Boston and the Fort Point Channel where a fort once stood in colonial times. The neighborhood of Fort Point was often regarded as one of New England’s largest artists’ communities. Today, it has become home to many of Boston's new and upcoming restaurants along with emerging technology companies. A well known landmark, Boston's Children's Museum, also sits along the banks of the Channel.
The boundaries of the Fort Point neighborhood are somewhat gray. The Boston Residential Authority recognizes it as an area within South Boston with borders of the neighborhood including South Boston, Chinatown and the Financial District. Housing stock in Fort Point is primarily larger, older buildings that have been repurposed into residential homes.
